RESUME It is the second edition of Endangered Species List of Saratov province that was first published ten years ago. It is a reference book of rare and endangered species of flora and fauna inhabiting the province, which are to be protected. Conservation categories and status are given in the edition as well as description, distribution and habitat data, limitative factors, adopted and appropriate measures to protect 541 species. They include 306 species of fungi, lichen and plants (lichen – 1, fungi – 20, bryophytic – 14, Selaginella – 3, pteridophyte–10, gymnospermous–2, angiospermous–256) and235 speciesof animals (leech–1, cancroid–12, Arachnida – 3, insects – 100, lamprey – 2, bony fishes – 15, reptiles – 7, birds – 73, mammals – 22). All species descriptions are illustrated with colorful pictures. Information about spreading of rare and endangered taxons is given inmaps and diagrams based on international systemUTM (Mercator projection). Province territory was divided into squares 100 meters on sides. Many well-qualified scientists-biologists of Chernyshevsky Saratov State University, Vavilov Saratov State Agrarian University, Saratov branch of Severtsev Institute of Evolutionary and Environmental Problems of Russian Academy of Sciences, Saratov department of Conservancy State Institute and of many other organizations and institutions worked in cooperation to publish the second edition of Endangered Species List. More than 20 artists worked to illustrate descriptions. Illustrations were based on herbarium lists, insects collections, stuffed animals, and photos of rare species in the wild. Plating includes slides from Zoological museum and Herbarium of the University made by scientists, lecturers and students from 1996 to 2019. Endangered Species List of Saratov province is a normative document as all included plants and animal species are approved by local government decree of September 27, 2019. Endangered Species List is assigned for conservancy organizations specialists, nature management specialists, lecturers, teachers, students, pupils, and others.
